UWI-USAID Educational Research Scholarship

This call is going out for suitably qualified persons to apply for the UWI-USAID Scholarship for graduate students who are pursuing or who wish to pursue an M.Phil. or Ph.D. in an education-related area. The scholarship is to be tendered in the School of Education with an attachment to the Caribbean Educational Research Centre located in the Faculty of Humanities and Education at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill.

Background

The Caribbean Educational Research Centre (CERC) is an initiative that is being set up in the Faculty of Humanities and Education at Cave Hill, funded by USAID.   CERC provides a functioning educational research centre with an interdisciplinary focus, where research will support evidence-based decision-making and policy development for educational innovation and advancement in the Eastern Caribbean and Barbados.

Eligibility for Award

Applicants must be citizens of Barbados or the OECS countries and must be enrolled in/have been accepted in/have applied for a graduate research-oriented programme (M. Phil or Ph.D.) at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill campus,  with an education-related research focus.

Tenure of Award

Tenure of the UWI-USAID Educational Research Scholarship will be for ONE (1) year at a time, but may be extended/renewed for an additional year for a maximum of three years. Successful applicants must be willing to be attached to the Caribbean Educational Research Centre for the duration of the scholarship.

Value of the Scholarship

The scholarship will primarily cover Economic cost, Tuition and University fees; with subsistence for the awardee that shall be no more than BDS$ 22,000 per year.

The completed application should be returned on or before the deadline by email to the following address:

Apart from the completed scholarship application form, applicants must also submit a personal statement outlining their philosophy on academic research, including their research agenda. This statement, which should be titled “Personal Statement on My Research Philosophy – Applicant’s name” and should be no more than  one page long (letter-sized, one-inch margins, single-line spacing, font size 12) should be submitted to the School for Graduate Studies and Research with the application documents and also emailed to              schoolofeducation@cavehill.edu.bb

with the subject “Educational Research Scholarship Personal Statement”

Deadline for Application

Applications for the UWI-USAID Educational Research Scholarship is 28 June 2021, 12 noon (Eastern Caribbean Time). Applications received after this time may not he considered or acknowledged.
