BRIDGETOWN, October 3, 2023 – “A Bright Future for Every Child!” That is the slogan that the Ministry of Education, Technological & Vocational Training (METVT) will reflect when it reveals its highly anticipated Education Transformation key proposals at the Launch on Thursday, October 5.
This event represents a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to remodel the education system to make it more responsive to the needs of all children.
“Education Transformation has been a top priority for the current administration. The METVT recognized the need for a change in a system that was identified as out of step with the demands of our economy,” said Chief Education Officer, Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw.
A key point of the event’s importance is that the Prime Minister, Hon. Mia Amor Mottley will deliver the feature address at the multi-media Launch, which will be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre at 2.00 p.m.
The Minister of Education, Hon. Kay McConney, Director of Education Transformation, Dr. Idamay Denny, and Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw will take to the stage to communicate with a diverse audience. This includes principals, teachers, students, unions, members of the social partnership, specially invited guests and representatives from the media, to reveal the key proposals for the Education Transformation
Some of the best Barbadian youth talent will be on show, namely the Barbados National Steel Orchestra, Dancin’ Africa and Scotiabank Junior Soca Monarch 2023 Finalist, Bit Bit. They are all united in their enthusiasm to help pave the way for every Barbadian child to have a bright future.
The METVT had consultations with key parties such as principals, teachers, and the Unions. The full Education Transformation Proposals will be presented at 13 town hall meetings to the public across the island. They will take place from October 13 to November 10, 2023.
