Milton Lynch Primary School will host a Health and Family Life Expo this Thursday, June 11, at the school in Water Street, Christ Church, from 10:00 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.

It will be held under the theme: Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds. Principal Carlton Reid will deliver remarks at the start, while Dr. Kimberley Phillips from the Randal Phillips Polyclinic, Oistins, Christ Church, will be the featured speaker.

She will discuss the general health of children, the importance of eating healthily, physical fitness and regular checkups.

As part of this Expo, there will be displays and sampling of a variety of healthy foods and drinks, as well as lecture discussions and free health checks from the polyclinic’s nurses. There will also be aerobic and line dancing exercises.

Representatives from the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the National Council for Substance Abuse will also be in attendance. According to Mr. Reid: “The aim is to sensitise pupils, parents and the community about the benefits of a healthy diet and exercise, as well as monitoring their health. This initiative will continue as pupils will be encouraged to bring to school healthier snacks as an alternative to their present diet.”
