The Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship 2020

The Embassy of Japan in Barbados is pleased to announce that it is now open for applications to the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2020.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho/MEXT) of the Government of Japan, through the Embassy of Japan in Barbados, offers scholarships to Barbadian students who wish to study at Japanese universities as research students.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students who wish to study in Japan. There have been several successful Barbadian students who have received this scholarship and pursued their studies in Japan.

The Research Students program is a 1½ to 2 year course of study which includes 6 months of intensive Japanese language training. During this period, students may engage in non-degree research study or enrol in a master’s, doctoral or a professional graduate program.

Successful applicants may choose to begin their studies in April or September/October 2020.

Applicants must be Barbadian nationals under the age of 35 (born on or after April 2, 1985), in possession of a university degree and willing to learn Japanese for six months at the beginning of the research study. Benefits include a monthly stipend, paid tuition and other fees and one return air ticket.
