The Education Project Implementation Unit (EPIU) was established in 1979 to ensure dedicated management of discrete project initiatives of the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development. The EPIU has specific responsibility for the coordination and the implementation of capital projects which fall under the ambit of the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, and which may be funded by international and or regional funding agencies.
The Unit performs the procurement and administrative services and maintains the accounting systems for the relevant programmes. The full complement of projects and programmes with which the Unit is engaged is as follows:
The Primary Education Domestic Programme (Primary Schools Maintenance).
The Education Sector Enhancement Programme (Civil Works)
The Expansion of the Barbados Language Centre Project
The activities of the Unit therefore impact on all stakeholders within the national education sector.
